Hands on DC is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that organizes projects to improve the physical condition of Washington, DC public schools. Our largest event is our annual spring Work-a-Thon in which we engage over 2,000 volunteers in over 30 DC public schools. We also raise funds to support local college scholarship programs and encourage greater community involvement in the public schools. Hands on DC is volunteer-founded and volunteer-led; we have no paid staff.
Donations from corporations, foundations, small businesses and individuals make Hands on DC possible. These contributions pay for the supplies our volunteers use and provide the scholarship money local students need. As a volunteer organization, there are very few costs other than those of the event itself, but we need your support. Our efforts are especially focused on collecting contributions to purchase supplies and organize the event and we need your help!
