All the ebooks available were previously published by bona fide publishers and later digitized and diligently proofread by Project Gutenberg with the help of thousands of volunteers. No fee or registration is required, but if you find Project Gutenberg useful, they kindly ask you to donate a small amount so they can buy and digitize more books.

Donations are used for programmatic support, including giveaways of CDs/DVDs, maintenance of systems/servers, acquisition of old books (at up to $1/book only), and copyright research.
